Chapter 7

Derek

I wake up to the aroma of breakfast being made. My stomach growls, it smells so damn good. Even though I'm exhausted, I climb out of bed.

I'm surprised Tracy found anything to make in this house. I really don't keep a lot of food especially since Amelia moved out. I stand and stretch then notice Tracy’s still in bed with me. Who the fuck is in my kitchen? I slipped on some clothes grab my gun and head out.

“Whoa!” Blake shouts. “Put the gun away.”

Shit. I set my gun down on the side table. I totally forgot that Amelia still had a key since she comes to check on me and make sure I'm okay. “Hey, Daddy. Just thought it'd be great to make you some breakfast. Do you think Tracy likes sausage or bacon?” My eyes widen because she knows that she's here. “How do you know she's here?”

“Daddy, Carly told me what happened last night when we got to work this morning. And that she was staying with you until the coast was clear.” Holy hell, she thinks Tracy’s just staying here in a protective custody type of way. In a sense she is, but it's more than that. I hear footsteps behind me and I holler before she can even get over here for anyone, Blake in particular to see.

“Tracy, please tell me you have some fucking clothes on.” I hear the footsteps turn around in dash back into my bedroom.

“Whoa. Seems we got more of a celebration going on here, Amelia. We should leave. Love we’ve interrupted your dad.”

“I'm so sorry Daddy. I just thought you guys could use someone to look after you after what happened last night. I didn't know that you finally admitted your feelings for her.”

“You knew?”

“I think the only one who didn't know it was her. You get all moody and a little bit bossy around her. Besides, I saw the way you looked at her. I've been waiting several months for you to finally ask her out.”

“Well, pumpkin. It's more than dating. Tracy's going to be my wife. I hope that's okay with you.”

“Okay with me? Daddy, you're old enough to make those decisions yourself. You know you don't need my permission. But I think you should ask her first, you know.”

“Yes, it would be nice,” Tracy agrees behind me. I spin around and slip my hands through her hair. “No, woman. I told you last night it was a done deal—signed, sealed, and delivered, baby.”

“Yep, there goes the bossiness again. We’ll just leave you guys to enjoy your breakfast,” Amelia says. As much as I love having them here, I want to be alone with Tracy.

“No, no, no don't go. Stay for breakfast with us,” Tracy offers. She’s right. We shouldn’t try to kick them out.

“You and Tracy could discuss the girly things she's going to need,” I add.

“I only need you,” she whispers in my ear.

Blake grabs Amelia around the waist, then whispers loudly, “Baby, I think it's time we leave; if you know what I mean.
